Bojnice castle

Viime viikon perjantaina matkallamme Wieniin teimme pienen lenkin Bojniceen katsomaan kylän linnaa. Perille löysimme melko helposti, mutta meidän piti odotella puoli tuntia kierroksen alkamista, sillä omin päin ei linnaa pääse tutkimaan. Kierros oli slovakiksi ja kesti reilun tunnin, hintaa oli 7€ per naama ja mikäli halusi valokuvata, tuli siitä erillinen 2€ maksu. Linnan vieressä on myös Slovakian vanhin eläintarha, joka on luultavasti myös vierailun arvoinen. Me emme ehtineet sinne aikataulumme vuoksi. Linna oli kyllä jo itsessään melko vaikuttava ilmestys.

 

//Last Friday on our way to Vienna we made a little trip to Bojnice to visit the castle. It was rather easy to find but once we got there we had to wait for half an hour for the tour to start because one can't explore the castle by themselves. The tour was in slovak and took a bit more than one hour. It cost 7 euros each and one has to pay extra 2 euros to take photographs. The oldest zoo in Slovakia is beside the castle and is most probably also worth visiting but we didn't have enough time. But the castle itself was already very impressive. 

 

Kierroksella meitä kuljetettiin eri huoneissa ja saleissa pitkin linnaa. Taisimme olla aamun ensimmäinen ryhmä, eikä meitä ollut kuin reilu 10, mikä oli ihan sopiva määrä. Linnassa on mahdollista saada myös muilla kielillä opastusta, mutta vain yli 10 hengen ryhmille. Onneksi heiltä kuitenkin löytyi englanninkielisiä lehtisiä, joissa oli tietoa ja historiaa linnasta. Kuvat puhukoon puolestaan!

 

//On the tour the guide took us around the rooms and halls of the castle. We were probably the first group of the morning and there were only about 10+ of us which was quite good an amount. It is also possible to have the tour in foreign languages but only for groups of more than 10 persons. Thankfully they had leaflets written in English from where we could read info and history about the castle. Let the pictures speak for themselves!

Linnan alla sijatseva luola kuuluu myös kierrokseen. Täältä voi nähdä ylhäältä löytyvän kaivon pohjan. Luolaa on käytetty vesisäiliönä, mutta mahdollisesti myös piilopaikkana. Mainio paikka päättää kierros!

//The cave beneath the castle is also a part of the tour. From here one can see the bottom of the castle's well. The cave was used as a water reservoir but probably also as a hiding place. It is a fine place  to end the tour!
