Eka viikko Martinissa //Week 1 in Martin

Termos! Nyt on tosiaan viikko takana Martinissa. Paljon on keritty tällä viikolla nähdä ja tehdä ja paljon on vielä kokematta. Tällä viikolla olemme tutustuneet Martiniin ja sen tarjontaan. Kadut alkaa näyttää tutuilta. Mitään ohjelmaa harjoittelun puolesta meillä ei vielä tällä viikolla ollut. Käytettiin siis aikamme sopeutumiseen ja lepäilyyn.



//Helloo! A week has now passed in Martin. We have seen and done a lot and there are still so many things to experience. This week we have spent our time in getting to know Martin and what it has to offer. The streets are starting to look familiar. We haven't had any program yet when it comes to the internship. So we have spent our time in adapting and resting.

Koulualuetta alla olevissa kuvissa. Vastapäätä sijaitsee tämä ensimmäinen talo, muttei meille ole vielä selvinnyt, että mikä rakennus se oikein on. Koulun alueella sijaitsee evankelisluterilainen kirkko ja Bible Schoolin rakennuksia nelisen kipaletta.

Koko viikon lounaat syötiin koulun ruokalassa, osa ruoista maistui hyvinkin suomalaisilta, osaan taas oli vähän totuttelemista. Ollaan myös tutustuttu pariin kahvilaan ja tänään käytiin syömässä paikallisessa kiinalaisessa. Mahat saatiin hyvin täyteen ja loput kolmen ihmisen annokset piti ottaa mukaan. Annokset oli siis ihan hitsin isoja! Tällä viikolla ollaan myös tehty pizzaa ja meitä odottelee tuolla omenapiiras, kunhan ensin mahat vähän vajuu..

//Through the whole week we had lunch at the school cafeteria. Some of the foods tasted a lot like finnish food and some of them required more of getting used to it. We have also been to a few coffee shops and today we went to the local chinese restaurant. We are still full and we had to take the rest of the foods (enough for three people) with us in doggy bags. The portions were huge! This week we also made pizza and there is an apple pie waiting for our bellys to have more space in them.

Kasvispizzaa ja Soavea//Vegetable pizza and Soave

Kävimme myös tutustumassa läheiseen leffateatteriin, jossa pyörii kolme leffaa yhtäaikaisesti. Ensi-illassa katsoimme Dianan, leffaliput 4 euroa.. Salissa oli paikkoja varmaan lähes yhtä paljon kuin Kuopion isoimmassa salissa. Ja meitä katsojiahan oli 16. Mutta leffa oli ihan hyvä ja se oli onneksi alkuperäiskielellä, slovakialaiset saivat tyytyä tekstityksiin. Se mitä ihmettelimme oli, että Suomessa Diana näytti olevan ensi-illassa vasta marraskuun alkupuolella. Miten täällä ollaan näin "edistyksellisiä"? Samoin Justin Timberlaken Runner Runner näytti olevan täällä aiemmin kuin Suomessa. Luultavasti käymme senkin katsomassa, mutta vasta sitten kolmannessa näytöksessä kun leffalipun hinta on tippunut 4,20 eurosta 3 euroon. Muita keinoja kun meillä ei oikein ole katsella leffoja tai ohjelmia muutenkaan kun ei täällä näy Netflix, ruutu eikä katsomokaan. Onneksi sentään viikonloppuillat on turvattu ja X-Factor näkyy! Ja Salkkarit voi aina katsoa ennakkoon :D

Tänä aamuna kävimme myös kirkossa ensimmäistä kertaa ja vaikka luterilainen kirkko olikin kyseessä, niin jonkin verran eroja jumalanpalveluksessa oli. Jumalanpalveluksessa pääsimme myös todistamaan uuden seurakunnan jäsenen kastamista. Kyseessä ei kuitenkaan ollut vauva vaan jo omasta uskostaan päättävä nuori mies. Jumista oli helppo seurata, sillä me saimme kuulokkeet, joista pystyimme kuuntelemaan puhetta englanniksi. Virret olivat kuitenkin melko mielenkiintoisia, sillä virsikirjat olivat kuinkas muutenkaan, slovakiksi. Eikä yhdenkään melodia edes tuntunut tutulta, vaikka muuten olivatkin hyvin samankaltaisia kuin kotona Suomessa.

Eilisen ohjelma oli ihan oma numeronsa ja siitä saatte lukea seuraavasta postauksesta. Paljastettakoon kuitenkin sen verran, että tänään jokainen askel saa ainakin Tealla naaman irvistykseen.

//We also went to see what the near-by movie theater looked like. They are showing like three movies at once.. We saw the premiere of Diana for 4 euros.. There were like 300 seats in the room and 16 viewers. But the movie was rather good and fortunately they showed it in the original language and the Slovaks had to satisfy with subtitles. The weird thing was that Diana's premiere is only in the beginning of november in Finland. How come they are so "advanced" here? Also the new movie by Justin Timberlake, Runner runner, will be here before Finland. Probably we will also see it but only on the third time when the price of the ticket has come down from 4,20 to 3 euros. We don't really have a lot of choices to see movies or other programs because Netflix or Finnish tv-sites don't work here. Yet I'm happy that I can watch X-Factor on weekends!

This morning we also went to church for the first time and even though it was a lutheran church there were still a few differences comparing to the church at home. We got to witness the baptising of a new member of church. He wasn't a baby though but a young man deciding of his own faith. It was easy to follow th service because we were listening to it in english from headset. The hymns were weird though because they were in Slovakian. Of course. And even the melodies were unknown although somehow very similar to our hymns in Finland.
