Visiitti Olomouciin // Visit to Olomouc

Koulu oli kolme päivää kiinni perjantaisen pyhäinpäivän vuoksi, mitä ajattelimme hyödyntää ja tehdä retken Tsekkeihin ja Puolaan. Lähdimme junalla matkaan aikaisin torstai-aamuna suuntana Tsekki ja reilun 100 000 asukkaan Olomouc-niminen kaupunki, joka tunnetaan myös ”vara-Prahana” mm. sen vilkkaan ja modernin yliopisto- ja opiskelijaelämän ansiosta. Puolen päivän jälkeen olimme perillä ja ensimmäiseksi kuljeksimme keskusaukiolle haukkaamaan pientä suolaista. Sen jälkeen katselimme useaan suuntaan tämän kauniin vanhan kaupungin aukiolla, jossa oli todella hienoja rakennuksia. Ilmakin helli meitä matkalaisia auringon säteillä ja lämmöllä.

// The school was closed for three days because of All Saint´s day on friday. So we decided to go Czech Republic and Poland. Early in the thursday morning we left by train towards Olomouc-city in Czech. There are about 100 000 inhabitants and it is known as a small Prague because of its lively student and university life. At noon we were there and first we walked to the old town main square and grabbed a little snack. After that we looked around in the old town, where there were a lot of beautiful buildings. The weather was also nice, sun was shining and it was warm.

Aukiolta löytyi kuulu astronominen kello renessanssityylisen kaupungintalon kyljestä. Kello näyttää kuun asennon ja horoskooppimerkit ja se on kehystetty työläisisiä esittävin kuvin. Aukiolla oli myös kaksi kaunista suihkulähdettä, jotka olivat ilahduttavasti vielä toiminnassa, vaikkakin huomaamme jo kaupunkien valmistautuvan talven viettoon. Ehkä huomattavin katseenvangitsija aukiolla on Unescon maailmanperintöluettelosta löytyvä 35 metriä korkea, barokkia huokuva ja pyramidimainen Pyhän Kolminaisuuden Patsas.

// At the square is the famous astronomical clock just next to the renessaince stylish town hall. The clock will show the position of the moon, horoscopes and it is framed with pictures about different kinds of workers. There was also two beautiful fountains at the square, which were working altough there has been singns about towns getting ready for the winter. Maybe the most remarkable sight in the square is the statue of the Holy Trinity, which is on the Unesco´s world heritage list. It is 35 meters high, pyramidic, and style is barocue.

Kävimme myös valtavan kokoisessa, goottilaisessa Pyhän Mauritzin katedraalissa. Pienenä huomiona mainittakoon, että katedraalin urut ovat Euroopan suurimmat. Kirkon lasimaalaukset ja sivualttarit kiehtoivat kauneudellaan. Ulkona kuuntelimme katusoittajaa viuluinensa ja Elina innostui Saaran inspiroimana lankuttamaan. Sen jälkeen kiertelimme vielä keskustan viehättäviä pikkukatuja suuntana Ibis-hotellimme, joka olikin kuin toisesta maailmasta vanhaan keskustaan verrattuna. Huone melkein ylimmästä kerroksesta antoi kivat näkymät kaupunkiin, miinuksena ilmanvaihtokanavia pitkin kulkeutunut tupakansavu.

// We also went to the massive, gothic church Holy Mauriz. The organs in this cathedral are one of the biggest in Europe. Glasspaintings and side altars were very beautiful. Outside we were listening the busker and inspired by Saara, Elina decided to plank. After we were wandering in the city's little streets, heading to our Ibis-hotel, which was so different from the old town. Our room was almost at the top floor and the sights were nice to the city. One minus was the cigarette smoke coming through the air conditioning.

Alkuillasta lähdimme taas liikkeelle, tällä kertaa menimme taidemuseoon, jossa oli mielenkiintoinen modernin taiteen näyttely. Taiteilijana oli Magdalena Jetelova, jolta oli esillä kooste useammista töistä, jotka olivat mielenkiintoisia, hieman synkähköjä ehkä. Näimme myös erään taiteilijan näkemyksen Raamatun luomistyöstä, mikä ei aivan meille kummallekaan auennut. Krakovan juutalaisista oli myös esillä valokuvia, jotka olivat otettu ennen toista maailmansotaa. Tea olisi voinut heti ottaa pari kuvaa mukaan, jos se olisi ollut mahdollista.

// Early in the evening we went to the art museum, there was an intresting modern art exhibition. The artist was Magdalena Jetelova and there was a collection of her pieces. They were intresting, some a little dark. We also saw one artist's view about Genesis in the Bible, which did not exactly open to us. In the museum there was also a collection of pictures about Krakows jewish people before the second world war. Tea could have immediately brought home some pictures with her, if it was possible.  

Ulkomuodoltaan goottilaisen Pyhän Vaclavin katedraalin kävimme myös katsomassa. Suuntasimme vielä toiseen museorakennukseen, josta löytyi kirkollista taidetta ja argeologisia löytöjä, minne pääsimme samalla taidemuseon lipulla. Kirkollisen taiteen osastolla saimme jalkaamme ihme-tossut, jotka jaksoivat naurattaa. Kulturellin hetken päätteeksi nautimme päivällistä läheisessä ravintolassa, jälkiruuaksi jäätelötuutit (josta Elina pudotti vahingossa loppuosan kadulle!) matkalla hotellille. Loppuilta lepäiltiin ja sulateltiin koettua. Aamulla ennen lähtöä junaan kulutimme runsaalla aamiaisella pitkän tovin kaikessa rauhassa.

After the art museum we went to see Holy Vaclavs cathedral, it was gothic from outside. Because we had double museum ticket, we also headed to another museum building, where was church art and argeological findings. In church art section we had funny slippers, which gave us good laughs for the rest of the tour. We ended our cultural moment with dinner in a restaurant nearby and ice cream for dessert (Elina accidentally managed to drop the rest on the street). The rest of the evening we were relaxing, in the morning we had a good long breakfast at the hotel before our train to Oswiecim.

Auschwitzin kokemuksesta on tulossa oma postauksensa. Tuleva viikonloppu onkin hieman totusta poikkeava, sillä Tea suuntaa Prahaan miehensä kanssa ja Elina tekee retken Bratislavaan. Rentouttavaa viikonloppua!

// We are going to make an own post from experiences in Auschwitz. The upcoming weekend will be different than what we are used to, because Tea is going to Prague with her husband and Elina will make a trip to Bratislava. Have a relaxing weekend!
